Awarded the honorary designation of Certified Genealogist Emeritus in May 2015. A Board-certified genealogist since 1972; past trustee and president, BCG; past trustee of APG and of the Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society; graduate of Samford's IGHR Advanced Methodology; past lecturer at national genealogical conferences and regional seminars. Articles published in The Genealogical Journal, published by the Utah Genealogical Society; The American Genealogist; the Middle Tennessee Journal of Genealogy & History, and the National Genealogical Society Quarterly. Writing awards include the 1995 NGS annual Award of Excellence and the 2006 and 2011 MTGS Writer's Award. A charter member of MTGS and continuous contributor to its journal for over 25 years. Author of NGS Research in the States Series, Research in Tennessee, 1993. Program Co-Chair, 1996, NGS Conference in the States, Nashville.
