Val's Roots Professional Genealogy Services

Summary Tab
Extended Tab

Valerie Eichler Lair started her full-time business, Val's Roots Professional Genealogy Services, in April of 1990 after working intensively on her own ancestors since January of 1989. Her initial interest skyrocketed into a passion! Valerie specializes in methodology, analysis, report compilations, and research for all the United States (emphasis on Minnesota, Illinois--Cook Co. & Chicago, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Colorado, California, Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and New York). She also conducts research with records in Yorkshire, England and specific areas in Germany. Valerie is a full time researcher, consultant, instructor, presenter, editor, and author of 4 family genealogy/history books along with numerous articles in genealogy publications. She served on the Board of Directors for APG (2014-2015), past President of APG-Heartland Chapter, member of APG-Northland Chapter, and serves various societies. She is a volunteer for the Minnesota GenWeb network. She conducts yearly research trips to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Many repositories are her home-away-from-home! Valerie's other niche is teaching beginner to advanced courses; as well as sharing her knowledge in presentations for local, state, and regional conferences. Whether you have a quick question relating to your family history or have a comprehensive research project, Valerie loves to help in any way! Valerie completed the ProGen Study Group in November of 2015. ProGen is an intensive, interactive 18-month course for those who are or want to be a professional genealogist. In addition to current and long-term client projects, Valerie is working on the update to her 1993 book on the Lair Family History.
