Clients expect a professional genealogist to have skills, experience and knowledge in a wide variety of areas: repository research, historical laws, nuances of record types in your locality or area of specialty, DNA, time management and organization skills, and strong communication skills.

The Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) is an international not-for-profit 501(c)(6) professional organization that helps young professionals improve their genealogy proficiency and experience through ongoing training and practice by focusing on Genealogical Skills and Knowledge, Connections, and Business Skills.

APG offers a 50% discount on the annual membership to all young professionals under 30. Young professionals also receive the benefits of a full membership; including leadership and networking opportunities, discounts, access to APG Quarterly and archives, and more.

Whether you are working towards a career in genealogy or taking your passion for family history research to the next step, APG helps young professionals prepare for success.

Young Professional Membership: $60 annually (payable online)
