<DIV>Once an area was considered a US Territory, census records were ususally kept. Some of these were special censuses, meaning that they were not necessarily kept at the regular 10 year interval that censuses were kept for the then current states of the US. You might find a census every year or so because the US government needed to know how many people were living in that territory. Some of these censuses are statistical and some list the heads of household and the number of people living in it. It really depends upon the reason that the census was taken.</DIV>
