I've enjoyed the comments regarding this homemaker's habit. But, my 
brain tells me this has been a personal choice of homemakers since 
the first drinking vessel was invented. And experience would show 
someone that dust shows up everywhere over time --- so face down 
keeps out dust, and critters, and in some cases is more stable.
