Footnote (subscription) has pensions online, as does HeritageQuest (public
library access) - I think they're from different NARA microfilm
publications, but don't hold me to that.
Yes, they are different NARA microfilm publications. Both series are in
Record Group 15: Records of the Veterans Administration.
Footnote digitized M804 Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land-Warrant
Application Files. This series includes both selected and non-selected
records. The records selected seem to be based on event. So it there were several
documents pertaining to a specific event such as a marriage one or two would
be "Selected" and the others placed in the "Non Selected" group. When
Footnote digitized the records they did not copy the Target pages that say
"Selected" or "Non Selected." You would need to compare the two series to see the
difference. Many of the Non-Selected records are letters from women who
wanted to join the DAR and often sent in more information on the soldiers
descendants than would be found in the pension file.
HertitageQuest digitized M805 Selected Records From the Revolutionary War
Pension and Bounty Land Application Files. This series only contains the
"Selected" records.
Pat Hatcher did an excellent article comparing the two series. Patricia
