Valerie,
You didn't say exactly what you were looking for in the "Genie Guide" but
while the "Guide to Genealogical Research" goes into a little more detail on
the NARA records it only covers 40 to 45 Record Groups. There are 500+
Record Groups in NARA holdings.
The 3 volume set "Guide to Federal Records in the National Archives of the
United States" is online at
_http://www.archives.gov/research/guide-fed-records/_
(http://www.archives.gov/research/guide-fed-records/)
Using that then following it up with a search in NARA's Archival Research
Catalog (ARC) at _http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/_
(http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/) will give a series level description of the records.
ARC has only about 68% of NARA's holdings described (it's a work in progress).
If the records you are interested in are described in ARC you will have
what you need to order the records.
