I think it could be cankered throat, or what was also known as 'throat
distemper' or 'putrid throat' now called diphtheria
apologies if this has already been answered, haven't read through all
emails.

Subject: [APG Public List] Old Medical Term
I was checking transcriptions that our genealogical society is doing for
births, deaths and marriages from 1856-1857 and came across a cause of death
that intrigued me, especially since two children in the same family died
from it several days apart. What might "kankerd throat" be?
Thanks for any insight to this.
