[APG Public List] Lowcountry Africana partners with Footnote.com to offer free South Carolina records

Today, 19 July 2010, Lowcountry Africana and Footnote.com announce a 
partnership to provide free digital images of South Carolina estate 
inventories and bills of sale-both essential to researching enslaved 
ancestors. Prior to the abolition of slavery, estate inventories and bills 
of sale were often the only records that would identify slaves by name, 
albeit as "property" in the records of slave owners.
