Craig,
I'm spoiled here in Salt Lake City with the Family History Library. Such a search takes only a few hours if the courthouses I need have been microfilmed.

Subject: [APG Members] Building FAN clubs in rural areas
Jeannette, I think Elizabeth meant having to go to several different county court houses in a large geographic area in order to be able to pull all the pieces together in order to establish a pattern (the FAN club, as she terms it.) It will certainly take more than 10 hours to even get through with one court house, and that's pushing it--and that's just the field work, never mind the compiling and analysis. Of course it all depends on just what it is you are after. Believe me, working in a rural area in six court houses I am speaking from experience. Remember, we are talking about larger projects (the discussion started off about a 40 hour commitment.)
