Many thanks for all of you who responded to my Texas marriage problem. Just
another example of the quality in our membership. I think this problem has
been resolved by good input.
I have gotten a volunteer to go visit the court clerk today and see if he
can get it personally with all the information provided.

Subject: [APG Public List] Re: Texas Marriage Problem

Hello, Alvie,

Perhaps the marriage did not occur in the county where the license was
issued. (Licenses in Texas are valid anywhere within the state, and the
return is sent to the county where the license was issued, not the one where
the marriage took place, if there's a difference.)

The Texas Department of State Health Services has marriage license
application indexes, downloadable by year, including 1984, at
http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/marriagedivorce/mindex.shtm . You might check
that to see where the license application was made, then contact the clerk
of that county, if appropriate.

Happy hunting.

<Does anyone have a clue as to how this mixup happened?>
