Good morning friends,

I am trying to see what would be the easiest way to locate information about
possible military related service for this man:

Orange Webb, born about 1730 in Suffolk County, NY and died 18 Aug 1805 in
Southold, Suffolk County, NY.

He was supposedly married to Francis Sandyfolk (not sure of this spelling).

According to some history books he fled from Long Island to Connecticut at
the beginning of the War and later returned. We cannot depend on printed
history books for they do not cite any sources.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Someone used him to get membership in DAR but they later red-lined him and
nixed any future use due to undocumented service.

By the way, I am not a NY specialist by no stretch of the imagination.
