But even if you rushed your answer (re Alaska) off to me, I do trust it.

Just kidding.  My comment to those who try to rush my research response always is that research is best done at a slow simmer.

  have exhausted everything they can think of ... and only after my class is over.
  Sometimes we do have to ask others for help/advice, but not just to save time 
  because it will then cost the other person valuable time

  But we truly do have 'good folks' on this list!!!!

      I always tell my classes to time line not only the person in their lineage but also location. 
      Else where will you know to look when??  

      Alaska -  (brief)
      1874 Russians established first permanent white settlement at Kodiak Island; remained under Russian control until its defeat in the Crimean War.
      1867 Mar 30 - Russia sold Alaska to the United States
      1870,1878, etc ** - Census records available for Unalaska and Aleutian 
      1904, 1905, 1906, 1907 - (partial) State/Territorial censuses
      1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 -  Federal Censuses
