I keep overlooking the really good old standby - Cyndi's List.
Everything you need to find about the U.S. Census right at your fingertips
at this page of Cyndi's:

So someone who was in Alaska, before it acquired statehood would only show
in one of these special censuses and not somewhere in the national ones?
Thought there might be a separate listing under them somehow. Something that
I haven't looked into before, no need until now.
thanks

Larry,
Once an area was considered a US Territory, census records were ususally
kept. Some of these were special censuses, meaning that they were not
necessarily kept at the regular 10 year interval that censuses were kept for
the then current states of the US. You might find a census every year or so
because the US government needed to know how many people were living in that
territory. Some of these censuses are statistical and some list the heads
of household and the number of people living in it. It really depends upon
the reason that the census was taken.

Haven't time to look this up, so a quick question here: what about
territories (like Alaska, but also current ones) and the US censuses? Where
included?
looking for missing person (missing from census, that is)
