All,
Thanks, but I still want to know how to use [find individual names in] it.
My example of "1st Earl of Leicester" was apparently a bad example. Say I
want "Peter Worthington" or "Richard Pence" or "Larry Boswell". How do I
find instances of those 'names.'

I'm not into this type of research, but I think Larry is right. If memory 
serves, Burke's is one of those books that folks bought their way into and 
fancied up their ancestry to their heart's content. American equivalent: 
Virkus as well as other "American Biography" series.

Excellent site, but be very wary of Burke's Peerage.  Nothing in it should 
be taken at face value.  I use it as a rough guide, but have found many 
errors in it along the way.
