Kirk Woosley Patton
Fincastle Ancestry Research
Born and reared in Kentucky, Kirk Woosley Patton's roots run deep in the Bluegrass with at least seven generations of ancestors buried in its soil. Kirk was graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky, having studied history and being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Following graduation from the UK College of Law, Kirk practiced law in Kentucky for eighteen years before launching a career as a professional genealogist. Kirk has more than twenty years experience researching his family history in Kentucky and across the United States. Kirk continues the search for his predominantly English and Scots-Irish ancestry in courthouses, libraries, archives, churches and cemeteries across the state and throughout the Appalachian Mountains region in Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Kirk founded the "William Woosley Descendants Association" and facilitates its online community for those who claim as an ancestor this veteran of the American Revolution. Kirk also is active in his local genealogical society, for which he serves as president, writes a newsletter column and facilitates a genealogy study group. Fincastle Ancestry Research is named in honor of Kirk's native state's origin as a part of Fincastle County, Virginia.
