Biography:
Diana Crisman Smith is Treasurer of ISFHWE (International Society of Family History Writers and Editors); Founding Member of Great Lakes Chapter of APG; Treasurer of the Genealogical Speakers Guild; and past Director of APG. She's also been a lay volunteer at the local Family History Center for more than twenty years. She has presented family research topics to a variety of organizations across the US (and at sea) for more than twenty years. She has written for print and online publications including APG Quarterly, NGS Magazine, Genealogical Computing, Digital Genealogist, Journal of Online Genealogy, Heritage Quest, Everton's, and others. After concluding a career in software consulting, she now dedicates her time to genealogy for herself and clients. She currently teaches courses online at Family Tree University (Land Record 101; Death Records 101; Using US Census Records; Using City Directories; Using US Military Records; and Civil War Records Research), and the National Institute for Genealogical Studies (Research: Danish Ancestors).
Service Description:
Services include speaking, writing, editing, teaching and researching. Lectures may be solo, or in a "he said/she said" format with husband Gary M. Smith.
Smith Genealogy Services researches for clients, focusing on the MidWest (Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa), but following leads to other areas across the US and Europe as needed.
