Roundtable

APG PMC. Other Conferences. Call for Papers.

An APG Roundtable is an informal discussion sponsored by the Association of Professional Genealogists and held during national conferences. A roundtable is one of the best places to network with other APG members, to learn how other professionals market themselves, and to share ideas and methods.

The roundtables for 2010 are:

NGS Conference, Salt Lake City, Utah: Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Topic: TBD.

FGS Conference, Knoxville, Tennessee: Tuesday, August 17, 2009, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Topic: TBD.

Open to all conference attendees and interested individuals.

If you aren't familiar with APG Roundtables or haven't read about them in past issues of the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly, here are a few helpful tips:

  1. These gatherings are never audiotaped. Discussions are designed to be open forums where colleagues can discuss freely and openly whatever issues are of importance to them. With rare exceptions, APG Roundtables are open only to members of APG.
  2. Roundtables are not lectures. A moderator directs the flow of these sharing sessions in which all are encouraged to add their own thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc.
  3. Roundtables almost always take place on the evening before a national conference begins-usually on Tuesday night. Anyone attending a national conference should plan to arrive at the conference city by late Tuesday afternoon to attend the APG Roundtable that evening.
  4. Information about APG Roundtables is available on the APG Web site. Check here for tentative dates of future gatherings and for information about topics discussed in past meetings. Notices and articles about roundtables also appear in the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly.
  5. Topics of discussion are determined by an informal survey of APG members. If you have a topic suggestion, send it to Kathleen Hinckley, APG Executive Director.

If you have questions about APG Roundtables or are interested in coordinating one at a regional genealogical conference in your area, please contact APG's Executive Director, Kathleen Hinckley.
